WHAT WE DO
quote
"No matter what your age or your life path, whether making art is your career or your hobby or your dream, it is not too late or too egotistical or too selfish or too silly to work on your creativity."

― Julia Cameron, The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity

About ArtGate

We believe that artists and creatives are an important part of the body of Christ. They have deep purpose and meaning for the church and the world throughout. We exist to build up communities that nurture them to use their talents and passions to edify and breathe life into others.

To Cultivate, Create & Resonate.

ArtGate events are where the body of Christ gathers together and enjoys an environment that nurtures the abundance of creativity that lives deep within us.

What does an ArtGate event look like?

Every ArtGate may look and feel a little different, and that’s awesome! But no matter where you attend, you can expect to find something like this:

  • Worship & prayer
  • Time to create original works of art or bring in existing pieces to perfect
  • Access to (some) art supplies/equipment
  • Teaching/learning opportunities
  • Coffee and maybe some other treats, yum!
  • Opportunities to develop relationships with other artists
  • Ministry opportunities; such as live art & worship in public spaces, giving away art pieces and serving our local communities

How we started

ArtGate started in 2011 at The Ravach Arts Company, a gallery then located in the artistic melting pot of Deep Ellum in Dallas, Texas. It was birthed from the hearts of friends & spouses alike with the desire to create together. Pulling together any supplies we could find, we would gather to share ourselves, our art. To share our process, struggles and triumphs. Many artists found a safe place in ArtGate to practice and perfect their skills, as well as a place to come and be with other creatives.

Through growth and changes, some good and others difficult, ArtGate was placed down for a time in 2013 after two successful and full years.

Little did we know that the seeds of a new ArtGate would soon be planted in the not so distant future. Beginning in 2015, there are now three distinct branches. Two in Texas (USA) and one in Prague (CZ). Our vision is to see communities like ArtGate continue to grow and spread all over the world!

What does “ArtGate” mean?

The idea for the name "ArtGate" is taken from the gates of Jerusalem, with each one serving a specific need or purpose. Therefore ArtGate exists as a gateway into a community of creatives who love God. Our desire is to create "RAVACH" ( in Hebrew רָוַח ), a refreshing space where we practice our gifts and talents for the purpose of bringing attention, honor and worship to our Creator; the one true Creator that all things flow from.
